The Joy of moving into stillness, freedom and empowerment

Yoga is an ancient art of self healing and development.

Yoga can be used by anybody, no matter what age or physical condition, to improve our quality of life by healing and strengthening the body and mind. Once a practise is learnt, it can easily be done at home. Naturally, benefits and ability increase as we do it more regularly.

I offer various classes, courses and techniques, ranging from very physically strong to very still and meditative, from deep, healing and quiet to very light, active and fun.

Regular classes and workshops are held at Peredur, East Grinstead.

"Kirsten started practising yoga in 1988 and qualified as a Sivananda yoga teacher in 1989. She fell in love with the flow of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 1991, through the generous teaching of Raphael Daborah and Danny Paradise.  Fully inspired, she travelled to study in Mysore, India in 1995, with Sri BNS Iyengar  a direct student of the late Sri T Krishnamacharya.  She started teaching in 1996 and has since had the pleasure of holding yoga classes and workshops in UK, Germany, India, America, Denmark, Hong Kong, El Salvador and Guatemala and hopes to continue with this until she is very old."

testimonialWhat people have said...

I have enjoyed Kirsten's yoga sessions for many years, all led with warmth, humour and consideration for differing abilities. My focus has been on Kirsten's Ashtanga based practice - following the basic Ashtanga principles but with additions and variations allowing strong broadening practice development - always an energetic experience illuminating both mental and physical aspects of yoga within a friendly group atmosphere.

Kirsten has been my yoga teacher for almost nine years now and under her expert guidance and unending patience, my understanding of the Ashtanga system has developed and been enhanced.

(I greatly respect and appreciate the knowledge she has received from great yoga teachers such as BNS Iyengar himself and from her own regular practice in India!) Her classes are varied and interesting in that after the traditional sun salutations and standing postures and before the finishing sequence, she 'plays' with a mix of primary, intermediate and advanced postures thus adding her own influence by adding some welcome variety.

Like you, I have never written a testimonial for anyone.Mainly because I think “ let them find out for themselves”. Also, I have never felt strongly about anything or anyone to persuade me to write about it, and I am 62 years old. But now I think Kirsten’s yoga classes, deserve writing about. As does Kirsten herself:

I have been doing yoga for 20 years, off and on, for the past 6 years I have been practicing in Kirsten’s Saturday morning classes and have found her, above all: an honest and the most superb teacher. She will not preach half baked ideas, she is brilliant in motivating you to improve your practice: she gives you pride in what you are doing. This keeps you going back and keeps you trying your best.

Once you have done the class and exercised every muscle, then serenity sets in and you feel relieved of your week’s pressures. Every muscle relaxes, including those in your brain. You come away happy and relaxed. What more can you ask for from a yoga class? Try it. I am not exaggerating.

Yoga private tuition

I recently started having private yoga tuition with Kirsten and I can highly recommend her.

As a yoga novice I was nervous about my capabilities but from the first session I felt inspired to practice the routine I was given and have done so on most days. Kirsten assessed my abilities very accurately so that I felt I could achieve what she asked and then she eased me into achieving even more! After each session I felt encouraged, empowered, full of enthusiasm and uplifted by Kirsten's joyful presence.
